After 4 wonderful years at Ohio University, I graduated with a degree in Retail Merchandising with a focus in Fine Arts and Business. Becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the jobs I was finding, I decided I wanted to start a business of my own. I dabbled in various creative outlets but couldn’t find anything that really grabbed my attention. I hadn’t given jewelry design a thought until I became fascinated with a friend’s fork bracelet she bought in NYC and decided to make one for myself. From there I experimented with different jewelry making techniques and made jewelry for friends and family. Everyone was so supportive of my new-found hobby that I eventually gained the courage to turn it into a business.

I had fallen in love with the entire process of jewelry making: from searching for the perfect materials to designing the piece to seeing the final product on a happy customer – I knew I was hooked. Now I just needed a company name! After some brainstorming I decided to combine two of my favorite things: the color Red and Giraffes. And with that, Red Giraffe Designs (or RGD for short) was born!

In 2009 I traveled to Maumee, OH for my very first craft show. It wasn’t incredibly successful, but I learned a lot! Today I have 3 storefronts in the greater Columbus area and continue to participate in several events throughout the year. I started my wholesale and consignment line in 2011 and currently have jewelry for sale in 50+ retail locations nationwide. Every day is a new adventure in the world of RGD and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
